Funding and Professional Opportunities
ASLH Cromwell Fellowship
Deadline: June 1
The American Society for Legal History provides fellowships ($5000) to support dissertation research in legal history, particularly during the colonial and early national periods of U.S. history. he Foundation has supported the publication of legal records as well as historical monographs.
Huntington Library / Western History Association - Martin Ridge Fellowship
Deadline: June 15
Fellowship of $3,500 to support one month of dissertation or postdoctoral research using materials housed at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA, in the study of the North American West as both a frontier and a region. Recipients of the fellowship are expected to be in continuous residence at the Huntington for one month.
Slavin Family Foundation Fellowships
Deadline: June 15
Grants of $4000 to assist students pursuing independent entrepreneurial projects while still in school. There is no set program for fellows; the Foundation tailors its support to the needs of each recipient. The fellowship offers one year of support.
Toyota Foundation Research Grants
Deadline: June 17
Provides up to 8 million yen over 2 years to support research projects that that address social issues with an awareness of the “connections” among people, between people and nature, and between people and things and technologies. No citizenship or residency requirement. Projects must be joint research conducted by two persons or more, with at least one project representative having a contact address in Japan.
GAPSA Individual Travel & Professional Development Grants
Deadline: June 30
Grants to assist with costs related to qualified travel expenses for graduate and professional students attending and/or presenting at academic conferences, meetings, case competitions, and non-credit bearing externships and internships. Learn more and apply.
CPRIT TRIUMPH Postdoctoral Fellowship
Deadline: June 30
Three-year multi-disciplinary postdoctoral fellowship program for trainees with Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees interested in clinical and/or translational cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Teach for China Fellowship Program
Deadline: June 30
Teach For China is an educational non-profit program under The Lead Foundation. The fellowship program opens to all Chinese students graduating before July 15, 2023. TFC is hoping to recruit fellows to participate in the two-year teaching program and serve schools in rural areas of the country.
Fulbright U.S. Student Program: 2025-26 Grants
Penn Priority Deadline: July 8
Deadline for University Endorsement (required): August 29
Current graduate and professional students and recent masters-level graduates can apply for grants to support 8-12 months of research, graduate study, or teaching abroad in one of over 140 countries. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is open to US citizens from all backgrounds. Applicants should be genuinely interested in engaging with diverse populations, and Fulbright encourages applicants representing the US’s racial, ethnic, gender identity, socioeconomic status, and regional diversity.
Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowships in Public Health
Penn Priority Deadline: July 8
Deadline for University Endorsement (required): August 29
A partnership of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and the NIH Fogarty International Center, Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowships carry the same benefits as Fulbright Study/Research grants to a given host country. In addition, the NIH will provide support to the research training site. Prospective applicants should review the country page for the host country of interest as degree requirements, research focus, and affiliation vary by country.
Army Research Laboratory (ARL) - Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship
Deadline: July 13
Generous 1-3 year postdoctoral fellowship to conduct independent research that supports the mission of ARL and will lead to the transfer of new science and technology that enhances the capabilities of the U.S. Army and the warfighter in times of both peace and war. Fellows work with scientists and engineers at the Army Research Laboratory in areas such as neuroscience, energetic materials and propulsion, electronics technologies, network sciences, virtual interfaces, and synthetic environments and autonomous systems.
Harvard University Society of Fellows Program
Deadline (for advisor nomination): August 1
Three-year fellowship to support dissertation completion and postdoctoral research in any department of the University. Fellows undertake sustained projects of research or other original work, or may devote their time to the acquisition of accessory disciplines, so as to prepare themselves for the investigation of problems lying between conventional fields. Fellows are required to be in residence in Cambridge or neighboring communities during the academic year and to attend the weekly lunches and dinners. They are expected to work full-time in the office or lab space provided to them by the University during term time
National Research Council RAP Postdoctoral Associateships
Deadlines: August 1; November 1
The National Research Council (NRC) Research Associateship Program (RAP) offers a range of postdoctoral opportunities in science and engineering for independent research compatible with the interests of sponsoring laboratories and affiliated institutions. Campaign for Community Grants

The Campaign for Community aims to strengthen our Penn community by finding ways to discuss and understand key issues that may appear to be difficult or intractable. The program provides grants of up to $1500 for projects and activities that help advance the Campaign's goals of encouraging mutual understanding, respect, and discussion among members of the community on important topics. Dirksen Congressional Center Congressional Research Grants
Deadline: rolling
Eligibility: Students with a serious interest in studying Congress; a significant portion of the funds is awarded for PhD dissertation research
