Spring Insurance & Family Grants for PhD students

Grad Student Teaching Awards

Recognizing excellence in teaching by graduate students across the University, the Penn Prize seeks nominations from current Penn graduate students who have taken courses with graduate instructors and/or teaching assistants. This is your opportunity to acknowledge graduate students who, through their dedication to teaching, have had a profound impact on your education at Penn. Self-nominations are not accepted. Provost’s Graduate Academic Engagement Fellowship at the Netter Center (PGAEF@NC)
Deadline: February 12
PGAEF@NC Fellows are outstanding PhD students whose scholarship significantly involves Academically Based Community Service (ABCS) and related activities, including locally based community problem-solving, engaged scholarship, service learning, and learning by teaching in public schools.
Penn Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

Explaining your research quickly and clearly is a great skill to have during networking, interviews, and unexpected social situations. The Penn 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition this year will give you that experience and more! Visit https://bit.ly/3_MT to learn more about this year's program and fill out our interest form! Everyone who submits a video will receive a participation gift. This year’s first-place winner will receive $1000 in research/travel funding and will represent Penn in regional and inter-Ivy 3MT competitions. Second-place and audience choice winners will each receive a $300 travel/research grant.
Call for applicants: 2021 TA Trainers

Do you enjoy teaching? Would you like to help prepare your peers to enter the classroom next fall? The Center for Teaching and Learning asks experienced TAs to apply to help train new TAs. CTL needs doctoral students in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and engineering to lead new TAs in workshops and facilitate teaching demonstrations and small-group discussions of scenarios.
Trustees’ Council of Penn Women (TCPW) Grants
Deadline: February 20
Grants of $1,000-3,000 for individuals or organizations promoting women's issues, the quality of graduate or undergraduate life for women, the advancement of women, and/or the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of women. CSERI Spring/Summer 2022 Call for Applications

The Center for the Study of Ethnicity, Race, and Immigration is accepting proposals for graduate research, conference travel, and methods training undertaken during the Spring and Summer semesters. Full-time Penn students in any school whose research focuses on social science approaches to race, ethnicity, or immigration are eligible to apply. RIT Future Faculty Career Exploration Program
Deadline: March 14
This Future Faculty Career Exploration Program is a rigorous four-day program designed for African American, Latino American, and Native American scholars and artists to experience a “behind the scenes” glimpse into life as a faculty member at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Participants will spend time learning and networking with RITs diverse administration, faculty and students. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their interview skills and research-talk presentation – all while exploring the research, teaching and service expectations of RIT faculty. Wolf Humanities Center Graduate Research Fellowships

The Wolf Humanities Center offers two one-year research fellowships to Penn graduate students in the humanities who are ABD and conducting research related to an annual theme. The 2022-23 theme is Heritage. Research fellows receive $2,500 each and are required to attend the Center’s weekly Mellon Research Seminar and to present their work at one of the sessions. https://wolfhumanities.upenn.edu
ARDRAW Grant Program

The Social Security Administration’s (SSA’s) Analyzing Relationships Between Disability, Rehabilitation and Work (ARDRAW) Small Grant Program provides a one-year, $10,000 stipend to graduate students conducting research that fosters new analysis of work, rehabilitation, and disability issues. Y.H. Park Fellowship
Deadline: March 27
One-year fellowship to support a Ph.D. or a research master’s student in the humanities, social sciences, international management, international studies, or fine arts whose primary research area is Korea and whose thesis/dissertation will be on Korea. Fellows must have sufficient Korean-language proficiency to use Korean-language sources in conducting research and writing dissertations.
Perry World House/Foreign Affairs Emerging Scholars Policy Prize
Deadline: May 11
This $10,000 prize recognizes outstanding essays with new ideas on how to tackle the world’s biggest policy challenges. Advanced PhD candidates and early career scholars from all disciplines are encouraged to apply, and the winning entries will be published in Foreign Affairs magazine.
Teach for China Fellowship Program
Deadline: June 30
Teach For China is an educational non-profit program under The Lead Foundation. The fellowship program opens to all Chinese students graduating before July 15, 2022. TFC is hoping to recruit fellows to participate in the two-year teaching program and serve schools in rural areas of the country. Learn more at http://www.meilizhongguo.org/.

Community Impact Fund

The Community Impact Fund provides small grants to support graduate student initiatives and activities that address racial, cultural, or gender-based bias. The goal of the fund is to help foster a community of mutual respect and intercultural understanding on campus, particularly among graduate and professional students. Campaign for Community

The Campaign for Community aims to strengthen our Penn community by finding ways to discuss and understand key issues that may appear to be difficult or intractable. The program provides grants of up to $1500 for projects and activities that help advance the Campaign's goals of encouraging mutual understanding, respect, and discussion among members of the community on important topics. Dirksen Congressional Center Congressional Research Grants

Eligibility: Students with a serious interest in studying Congress; a significant portion of the funds is awarded for PhD dissertation research
Data Incubator Data Science Fellowship
