Melanie received her BA in Neuroscience from Wesleyan University. Before coming to Penn she worked for two years as a research technician at UC Davis in the lab of Dr. Jacqueline Crawley studying the effects of pharmacological interventions in mouse models of autism. In the Fall of 2017 she came to Penn to pursue her PhD in Neuroscience and joined the lab of Dr. Ishmail Abdus-Saboor. Her current work focuses on the role of mechanosensory “touch” neurons in mediating the stress response.
