Born in Bogota Colombia, Matias is interested in exploring the application of genetically engineered hematopoietic stem cells for the treatment of neurological diseases. Matias is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Bioengineering (Gill & Bennett Lab) pursuing a dual degree in statistics at the Wharton School. Matias’ past research experience revolved around developing drug delivery with a focus on polymer nanoparticles, layer-by-layer self-assembly, and viral vectors as delivery mechanisms. Matias received his B.S. in Chemical-Biological Engineering from MIT and an MS in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University. Outside of academics, Matias loves to travel and learn foreign languages.
