Kiana T. Murphy is a doctoral candidate in the English department at the University of Pennsylvania. Her work, both creative and scholarly, focuses on speculative representations of Black children in literature, music, and visual culture. She is co-coordinator of the Black Cultural Studies Collective, and was co-curator of the Spring 2020 exhibit and conference “Writing Across Genres: African American Women Writers in the Joanna Banks Collection” hosted in Philadelphia.She is currently a fellow for the Penn Pre-Doctoral Fellowship for Excellence Through Diversity for the 2020-2021 academic year.
