Jasmine L. Blanks Jones is a dual PhD candidate in Education and Africana Studies. Her research focuses on youth civic engagement practices as a social determinant of health and well-being. She has been awarded as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholar, Dr. William Fontaine Fellow in Africana Studies, and a George and Alice S. Hill Fellow in education. She is a Vital Voices Fellow for women in leadership in DC. She earned a BS in Music Education from Florida A&M University and a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota. As founder of B4 Youth Theatre, she has more than twenty years of experience in youth development having directed programs with youth in the US, Liberia, Japan, Hawaii, Spain, Belgium, and Ghana. She specializes in participatory action research and performance ethnography, holding affiliations with the Center for Experimental Ethnography at Penn and CAMRA, a collaborative for multimodal research.
