Looking for a quiet place to study, space to relax and meet up with friends, or rooms to reserve while the Grad Center is closed? This page has information about alternative and temporary spaces available for graduate student use during the Fall 2021 semester.

Grad Center Administrative Offices
These spaces are reserved exclusively for graduate and professional student use. The spaces can be used for study or relaxation; however, face masks are required at all times and eating/drinking in the space is prohibited.
- Graduate Student Reading Room
Van Pelt Library Class of 1937 Memorial Reading Room, 5th Floor (Accessible)
Includes 34 carrels, 2 large reading tables, and soft seating for 8.
Daily during Library hours; PennCard required for entrance
As of August 31, Library hours are 8:30am-midnight M-Th, 8:30am-9pm Friday, 10am-6pm Saturday, and 10am-midnight Sunday. Check the library website for holiday and break hours.
- Temporary Graduate Student Lounge and Study Space in Houston Hall
Rein Room (#301), Houston Hall (Accessible)
Includes large communal reading table and seating for 14
Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm; starting August 31 through December 14

- Temporary Graduate Student Lounge and Study Space on Locust Walk
3539 Locust Walk
Includes study tables, small meeting room, and soft seating for 10
Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm; Starting October 18 through December 14



The following spaces are available for all Penn students to reserve for group meetings or events:
- Perelman Quadrangle
Includes Houston Hall, Irvine Auditorium, ARCH Building, Iron Gate Theatre, and selected classrooms and outdoor spaces. Student organizations receive first priority in booking and do not have to pay space rental fees.
- Greenfield Intercultural Center
The Greenfield Intercultural Center (GIC) can accommodate meetings and programs to support various educational, cultural, and social programs. See space details and reservation policies on the GIC website.
- LGBT Center
The LGBT Center has multiple spaces available for reservation, including a large events space with catering kitchen, an informal lounge and meeting space, and a medium-sized conference room. Space details and policies are on the Center's website.
- Penn Libraries
View and search public and by-reservation spaces across all Penn libraries. Spaces include group study and meeting rooms, classrooms, carrels, and more.
- Penn Women's Center
The Penn Women's Center prioritizes educational, artistic, networking, outreach and/or civic engagement programs that empower women and promote gender equality at Penn and beyond. Reservable spaces include the Penn Environmental Education Kitchen (PEEK) Kitchen. Space details and reservation policies on the PWC website.
The Graduate Center administrative offices are temporarily located on the ground floor of College Hall in suite G-06. Access to this space is restricted. Please schedule an appointment in advance and ring the bell for entry.
Suite G-06 is located on the ground floor of College Hall. Please enter the building from the east or west side doors for easiest access.
