Sana is a doctoral student in Religious Studies at Penn, focusing on Islam in South Asia. Before coming to Penn, she studied History at the University of Toronto and completed her master’s in South Asian Studies at the University of Oxford. Her current research explores how narratives, rituals, and relics shape memory and belonging among Shi’a Muslim communities in Pakistan. Outside academia, Sana loves cooking, reading, visiting museums, experimenting with fashion, and practicing photography. She’s also on a mission to explore as many of Philly’s coffee shops as possible, and is excited to be the new Engagement and Outreach Fellow at the Grad Center.
